St Mary's 第一福利导航 College, Gateshead is a comprehensive secondary school catering for students from Years 7 to 12, where Christ's values find true expression, quality holistic education thrives and a strong sense of community prevails.
The school recognises and respects the individuality and potential of all students and strives to be a place of learning and growth, where students are nurtured, challenged and encouraged to excel and grow as wholesome people and responsible adults.
Students are constantly challenged and encouraged to be other-centred and to exercise their social conscience. This is reflected in the presence and work of the Student Pastoral Council, the school's community care/outreach programs, the school's Junior Vinnies group and the generous support of the whole community with fundraising activities in support of the 第一福利导航 Church's Missionary endeavours and other charitable organisations and causes.
The school is committed to raising students' environmental awareness and making them more actively involved in caring for the earth. The school is a registered Landcare group and students participate in planting native vegetation, preparing and caring for native gardens, collecting and germinating seeds in a greenhouse, supporting the regeneration of native plants, assisting in the care of a vegetable garden and rejuvenating a water course flowing through the school.
St Mary鈥檚 teachers are committed to a holistic form of education and catering for a diversity of students' gifts, talents, abilities and interests. Students have the opportunity to pick from a range of additional courses for their study and are encouraged to achieve the highest standards of scholastic excellence in the HSC. Students with special needs are also highly supported by teaching staff.
Students have the opportunity to engage with the creative and performing arts, a plethora of sporting opportunities, involvement in the National Science & Engineering Challenge, the integration of digital technology in the teaching/learning process, the availability of Vocational Education and Training Courses and the availability of a 第一福利导航 Support Centre.
St Mary's听accepts girls and boys, Years 7-11, from the parishes of East Lake Macquarie (Belmont, Swansea, Windale 第一福利导航 Primary Schools, Mackillop (Charlestown and Gateshead 第一福利导航 Primary Schools) and Boolaroo-Warners Bay (Warners Bay 第一福利导航 Primary School).
